Below you will find examples of my work, meetings, education and newspaper articles.
2015 – present: I have had meetings with more than 250 time witnesses. Especially with Allied and German soldiers, but also with Jewish and Sinti survivors. For example, I had contact with Willem Oldenhof. In April 1945 he joined the Canadian army. He fought in Assen and helped arrest the NSB-mayor of the village of Rolde. In May, Willem joined the Internal Forces. Among other things, he guarded a camp with imprisoned NSB-members (collaborators).2024 – 2025: For 1 year I am a sponsor of an American longtime volunteer in a former Concentration Camp in Germany. 2024: For two weeks I worked as a summer volunteer at the German military cemetery Costermano in Italy (approximately 22,000 dead). There I did garden maintenance of Erika-heath around hundreds of gravestones. I also pruned trees and plants, and repaired brick mortar of dozens of meters of the cemetery’s walls.2024 – present: The guest lesson I offer is called “WW2 from a European perspective”. The aim is to introduce students / participants to war stories from other countries. For example, about the German Franz, Ukrainian Marija or British Bernard.2024: WW2 exhibition which I co-organized. This in the library at my work; the HAN University of Applied Sciences. On display are four cabinets with books, teaching methods, teaching suitcases, personal objects and militaria. The target group are students from the studies Primary school teacher, History, Dutch and German.2023: Giving a presentation about both my grandfathers’ war past. This in the seminar room of the German military cemetery in Lommel (Belgium). The audience was very interested and asked many questions.2022 – present: Requesting recognition and appreciation for Dutch veterans (awards and letters of thanks).2022 – 2024: I was an extra player in several WWII movies. For example in a film about the Jewish interpreter Max Wolff in the Allied army. For the 80th anniversary of ‘Market Garden’, his story was filmed and projected on the Rhine Bridge of Arnhem.2024 – 2025: Website made by me for German students. I created this for my work: the HAN University of Applied Sciences (HAN).2019 & 2021: As an information officer I worked at the Horsa Glider Project. This because of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem. We received many British veterans and thousands of visitors. Prince Charles also visited the glider. We spoke briefly about the project and the airborne troops. For the occasion I am dressed in a British WW2 uniform. The memorial stone is now located along the Gedenkweg Buchenwald-Bahn in Weimar in Germany.More informationdata about Jakob Steinhoff.2017: Education day in Veghel which I co-organized. 500 students participated and the average teacher rating was 8.1 (Dutch rating system).2014 – 2015: My license plate during my year abroad in Germany. I lived and worked in Kreis Kleve (Nordrhein-Westfalen) for a year.2014 – 2015: During this year abroad I worked as a tourism employee at the German Municipality of Kranenburg. For example, I worked at the tourist office, during events and at holiday fairs.2014: Website made by me for Museumship Mercuur.2010 – 2011: During my studies I had contact with many time witnesses and I wrote down their memories. That is how I got to know Marion Blumenthal Lazan during the study trip to the Bergen-Belsen camp. As a German-Jewish girl she had been imprisoned there and after the war she emigrated to America.2010 – 2011: I wrote a blog about the study trips to places of memory in the Netherlands and Germany. For example about Camp Westerbork, Camp Amersfoort, Camp Vught and the Hollandsche Schouwburg.2010: Internship at the Dutch Royal Navy.
